L&D Article Review #16

How do you feel about marketing on social media? 📲 I'm not sure why I'm hesitant about it. Perhaps I consider the idea intrusive. The blurred lines of social and work life can lead to poor balance or burnout. However, plenty of businesses do it successfully and it's hard to argue with the results. This is my 30 L&D articles in 30 days challenge! (Link to the article down below)

Article #16: Everything You Need To Know About Social Media Marketing - By JIMIT DAGLI

How long it took to read? - 7 minutes

Who it's for? - Business owners who are looking to reach more customers through social media marketing (SMM)

What I took from this article - The idea of multiple social media accounts kinda wigs me out... I'm definitely showing my age (and stubbornness), but I've had a Facebook account for most of my adult life, and just this past year I started posting on my LinkedIn. But, that's pretty much it, 2 accounts! I enjoy my private life and I'd rather not worry about things like "likes and shares" dictating my self-worth.
It's for this reason that I'm hesitant about social media marketing (SMM). However, the two are not always synonymous.

I believe that social media can be used as a marketing tool exclusive of too much personal information. The author lays out several strategies for achieving this such as setting "SMART" goals and creating engaging content (videos, infographics. etc..). Customers will resonate more and more with a product if they know that a real fleshed-out person is behind the said product. I hope that I can navigate this hesitation better as I know SMM is one of those sink-or-swim areas for professional growth.
